Our lawful basis for each purpose
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of personal information. We rely on the following:
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Processing and delivering your order, taking payment, handling returns and refunds | Performance of a contract with you |
| Creating and operating your customer account | Performance of a contract with you |
| Answering customer support enquiries | Performance of a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries |
| Keeping tax, accounting and transaction records | Compliance with a legal obligation |
| Fraud prevention and website security | Our legitimate interest in protecting the business and our customers from fraud and misuse |
| Recording age confirmation and purchaser declarations | Our legitimate interest in supplying products only in line with our stated purchaser criteria |
| Sending transactional order messages | Performance of a contract with you |

Payments
Card payments on this website are processed by Stripe. When you pay, your card details are entered directly into Stripe's payment form and are not received or stored by us. Stripe processes your payment information as an independent controller for its own fraud-prevention and regulatory purposes, and as our processor for taking the payment.
Where digital wallets such as Apple Pay are offered, they appear through Stripe's payment form and are only shown if your device supports them. The availability of a wallet does not indicate any endorsement of Precision Peptides or its products by the wallet provider.
Delivery
When an order is dispatched, the delivery name, address and contact details needed to complete the delivery are provided to the carrier handling that order.
International transfers
Some of the providers we use may process personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, the transfer is made under a transfer mechanism recognised by UK law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it. When deciding how long that is, we take account of:
- How long we need the information to perform our contract with you
- Tax and accounting record-keeping obligations
- Other legal obligations that apply to the business
- Fraud prevention
- The period during which a dispute or claim could reasonably arise
Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe, plus a record of your opt-out so we do not contact you again.
How we protect information
Access to customer and order records is restricted to authorised administrators, account areas require you to sign in, and documentation files are served from private storage through time-limited links. No website can be completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to erase information where there is no continuing reason for us to keep it
- Ask us to restrict how we use your information while a concern is resolved
- Object to processing that we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests
- Ask us to transfer certain information to you or another provider in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on consent, such as for marketing or analytics cookies
To make a request, email sales@precisionpeptidestore.co.uk. We may ask you to confirm your identity so we do not disclose information to the wrong person. We will respond within the time limits set by UK law.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), the UK supervisory authority for data protection. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
Marketing communications and email preferences
We only send marketing emails to people who have asked to receive them. Marketing boxes on this website are never pre-ticked, and choosing not to opt in has no effect on your order. Accepting these policies, creating an account, or placing an order does not on its own sign you up to marketing.
We keep a single record of your email preference, whichever part of the website you set it from — the welcome message, checkout, your account area, or a newsletter sign-up. That record stores your email address, whether marketing is permitted, how and when that permission was given, and the wording you were shown at the time.
Transactional messages are separate from marketing. Order confirmations, payment receipts, dispatch and tracking notices, cancellations, refunds and account security messages are sent because they are needed to complete your order or protect your account, and they continue even if you opt out of marketing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the website and our processes change. The version number and effective date at the top of this page show when it was last revised, and previous versions are retained in our records.
Abandoned basket reminders
If you add products to your basket, give us your email address and then do not complete your order, we may keep a record of that basket so we can remind you about it. The record holds your email address, your name where given, the products, quantities and prices in the basket, any discount applied, and the times the basket was created, updated and abandoned. We never store card details — payments are handled by our payment provider.
We only send a basket reminder where our records show that marketing email is permitted for your address. If no permission is recorded, or you have unsubscribed, we do not send one. Reminder emails always contain an unsubscribe link.
As soon as an order is paid for, the basket is marked as recovered and any remaining reminders are cancelled.
Promotional offers
Where an offer is included in a marketing or basket reminder email, we may generate a discount code linked to that email so we can apply the correct terms and see whether it was used. We record the code, its value, its expiry date and whether it was redeemed.
Unsubscribing and suppression records
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, from your account area, or by emailing sales@precisionpeptidestore.co.uk. You do not need to log in to unsubscribe.
When you unsubscribe we add your address to a suppression record. We keep that record so we can honour your choice and avoid emailing you again by mistake. Unsubscribing stops marketing and basket reminder emails; it does not stop genuinely transactional emails about an order you have placed.
How long we keep marketing and basket records
Abandoned basket records are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted or anonymised. Marketing preference and suppression records are kept for as long as needed to evidence your choice and to keep honouring it.
Email service providers
Our order, account and marketing emails are delivered by a third-party email delivery provider acting as our processor. They handle your name, email address and message content only to deliver our emails on our instructions.
Homepage welcome offer sign-up
If you enter your email address in our homepage welcome offer, we use it to record your communication preference, to issue and administer your single-use introductory discount code, and — where you have given consent — to send you the welcome email and later marketing emails.
We keep a dated history of your communication preferences, including when a preference was given or changed, the source it came from and the wording that was shown to you at the time. We keep this record as evidence that we handled your choice correctly. We never treat placing an order, creating an account or contacting us as marketing consent on its own.
Telephone Numbers and WhatsApp
We require a telephone number when you place an order. We use it to fulfil and deliver your order, to provide shipment tracking, to allow couriers to contact you about a delivery, and to resolve delivery problems or order-related queries. The lawful basis for this use is performance of our contract with you.
Providing a telephone number is not consent to marketing. We will not send you promotional messages by telephone or WhatsApp unless you have separately and affirmatively opted in.
If you opt in to WhatsApp marketing, a member of our sales team may contact you about offers or an unfinished basket. Consent is recorded with its source and date, and can be withdrawn at any time from your account communication preferences or by replying STOP. Withdrawal is recorded on a suppression list and does not affect order, delivery or tracking messages.
Telephone numbers are stored securely, are visible only to authorised staff, are masked in internal listings and are revealed only where necessary for order or delivery support. We do not share customer telephone numbers in shared or public messaging groups.
Questions about this policy can be sent to sales@precisionpeptidestore.co.uk. All products are supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research use only.
